“It was not Monica Davis’ first run-in with the law,” wrote Lauren Victory for CBS Chicago. “CBS 2 reported how she was arrested in January by police in Nevada for similar allegations: that she was doing work on people’s mouths without a dental license. Davis turned herself into Schaumburg police. Investigators charged her with practicing medicine without a license, a felony.”

This Monday, a 69-year-old man from Massachusetts was indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury on charges of practicing dentistry without a license, assault and battery, and Medicaid fraud. 

As reported in the Boston Globe by journalist Tonya Alanez, “Fritz F. Gabriel, manager of Forest Hills Dental, allegedly defrauded MassHealth, the state’s Medicaid program, of about $245,000 by billing for extractions, root canals, and fillings that he did not perform, as well as services he did provide as an unlicensed dentist, Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell’s office said in a statement. Gabriel perpetuated a ‘scheme to defraud’ MassHealth from Jan. 1, 2018, to March 1, 2024, according to Campbell’s office and court filings.”
